What is Shaolin and what
makes this school different from others?
Shaolin
is a system that originated in China. This
system is a way of living, thinking, and being.
Our school brings that system to you exactly how
it is taught in China.
What is a traditional
school?
A traditional school
is one that teach the values and philosophies of
the Shaolin Temple as they are taught in China.
What
qualifies our instructor to teach kung fu?
Lu
Sifu started training at the age of 8, where he
studied in a Shaolin Monestary (located in
Fujian Province). He was teaching by the age of 14 and has been
doing so ever since. While in China, he
was also a stunt man for Hong Kong Cinema.
Does
the school have uniforms?
Yes, they can be purchased at the school.
Are there competitions or
belts?
There are no competitions. If you win
in a competition you gain false confidence and
if you lose it destroys your confidence.
We want all our students to have confidence in
all that they do. We do not have belts
either because we don’t want anyone to feel less
or more of a person just because of a belt.
How young or old can a
student be?
There
is really no age limit. As long as the
person is able to follow and understand
instruction they are welcome.
What if I have Health
concerns?
Through Kung Fu’s various forms and
movements, one will gain balance, rhythm,
coordination, and relaxation of the mind, body,
and spirit. Once the mind, body and spirit
are working together in harmony the body is able
to heal itself.
Is spirituality or
philosophy taught at the school?
Yes, it is up to each individual student as
to what they want to learn. All Chinese
philosophies are taught here.
Since this is a Southern Shaolin Temple does it
matter what religion I am?
No it does
not, we accept anyone who wants to learn Shaolin
Kung Fu.
What physical
aspects does studying the different systems
enhance?
You will develop flexibility, muscular
definition, balance, strength, and quickness.
Is it ok to study just one
system?
Yes,
but we encourage each student to learn all the
systems so that he or she will become a better student.
How are classes structured
or taught?
This question is answered by experiencing
the class. (By experiencing a class the question
is answered without words.)
